R.I.P. to all-you-can-eat sushi on the river

A collective " Noooo!" was heard all along St. Anthony Main as Heavy Table reported that old standby Kikugawa Sushi is closing.

What gives?

No representative from the restaurant could be reached for comment as to why they shut down, but competition in their immediate area is pretty fierce with both Origami and Masu Sushi and Robata within a two-mile radius.

Kikugawa was known for its all-you-can-eat sushi buffet, yakitori, super-cheap wine, and good selection of sake, simple maki, and riverfront views. Surely this will be a hot piece of real estate for whoever ends up taking over the space.

The real question is: What will happen to those fake dust-covered pieces of nigiri and beef teriyaki that were always in the window display? If they're up for grabs, let us know...

I have been amazed they were still open for years.  Nothing against the business, but there never seemed to be anyone there when I walked by, my sushi loving friends never mentioned it, and I never saw any advertising or reviews.  It is a huge space to frequently be so empty.

They definitely have gone downhill, I did really like the place still.
