|Comfort me with doughnuts|
It's been a wild two-year ride for the team behind the Donut Cooperative
. What began as a passion for a great doughnut made with sustainable ingredients became an ambitious shop built and loved by its members.
They launched a successful Kickstarter campaign, raising more than their $10,000 goal. Plans for an Uptown location were scrapped, and they had to head back to the drawing board. Finally, they seemed to have found an ideal spot.
In addition to the standard cake and sprinkles, they created doughnuts no one else dreamed possible -- gluten-free and vegan varieties with flavors like sangria, dark chocolate sea salt, and curried coconut lime. Today the co-op announced with heavy hearts that the ride is coming to an end.
Sunday will be its last day of business. After that it will cease production. Fans and friends are invited to stop by on their last day for casual drinks and treats.
