Amore Victoria hosting benefit tonight for those displaced by Uptown fire
"I never imagined my apartment would go up in flames," Nicolas Hutchinson told City Pages. Who expects that? The Uptown resident was just one of many left to couch surf after a fire destroyed an apartment building and caused minor damage to nearby Dunn Brother's and Bruegger's Bagels. Tonight neighbors, family, and friends will gather at a nearby restaurant and try to help those displaced.

From 6 to 10 pm tonight, Amore Victoria will hold a silent auction to benefit the victims of the fire. In addition to the silent auction items, all proceeds from tonight's dinner service will be donated to the victims. The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. today.
In the time since the fire, Jenna and Alex Victoria have been doing what they can to help those displaced, including collecting toiletries and offering meals. Jenna told the Star Tribune, "We feel like we're a part of this community, and being so close to that particular building made it feel that much more real. It really made us feel like we have to do it. We're all neighbors here."
For those unable to make it for dinner, contributions to the Uptown Condo Fire Fund can be made at any Wells Fargo branch.
