Butcher & the Boar makes another "best new" list

And the good news just keeps on rolling in for Minneapolis restaurants. In their latest bout of regional attention, Midwest magazine named both Butcher & the Boar and the Prairie Kitchen & Bar to its list of best new Midwest attractions, hotels, and restaurants. The list is a compilation of 32 locations deemed worthy for Midwestern travelers.

Butcher & the Boar knows how to sling their sausages

On the heals of being named the Star Tribune's best new restaurant of the year, Minneapolis veteran chef Jack Riebel's Butcher & the Boar comes in at No. 32 on the list, with Prairie Kitchen at the No. 27 slot. Other restaurants to make the list include Late Harvest Kitchen in Indianapolis, Indiana; Syrah Restaurant & Wine Bar in Green Bay; and Michael Jordan's Steak House in Chicago.

Butcher & the Boar has been captivating Twin Cities diners since its opening last winter. With its specialty house-smoked meats, innovative snacking selections, and a top-notch selection of craft beers and specialty bourbons, the restaurant has become one of the most difficult reservations in the city.

The Prairie Kitchen & Bar is the result of an overhaul of the Hyatt Regency downtown. The restaurant specializes in classic American cuisine serving the full array of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It offers a list of classic cocktails featuring Manhattans, Negronis, and Old Fashioneds, with a few specialty cocktails, like its Purple Rain, a stirred mix of Absolut Citron, Parfait Armour, and cranberry and lime juices.

Both restaurants are the newest addition to the Twin Cities list of regional/national awards, which include restaurants such as Haute Dish, Pizzeria Lola, and the Bachelor Farmer.
