|Haute Dish in North Loop makes MSN's list for its modern take on classic dishes|
The national accolades keep rolling in for Twin Cities restaurants. In our latest bit of national notoriety, the local food rebels at Haute Dish have been singled out by MSN as one of the top 11 restaurants in the country that are redefining the way we think about comfort food.
The MSN article honors restaurants that are turning out ramped-up versions of classics that we know and love. Other restaurants on the list include Homeroom in Oakland, California; Harvest in Louisville, Kentucky; Becket's Table in Phoenix, Arizona; the Spence in Atlanta; (one of Top Chef Richard Blais's restaurants); and Bubby's in New York City.
|Haute Dish's "Steak & Eggs"|
The article places Haute Dish at No. 9 on the list and features a beautiful photo of its famous tater-tot hot dish.
Haute Dish has been riffing on comfort food classics since it opened iots doors two years ago. The article also references its king crab and tellegio mac 'n' cheese, but other notables not listed by MSN would certainly include the General Tso's Sweetbreads with foie gras fried rice, their "Steak & Eggs" (steak tartare served with an egg in a hole and a bloody Mary oyster shooter), and the Duck in a Can.The last time we visited Haute Dish we had fried chicken that came studded down the center with mac 'n' cheese. It was divine.
And just when we thought that Haute Dish
couldn't possibly represent our state any better, in true Minnesota fashion, the restaurant is now offering a weekly meat raffle, in which ticket holders can win one of several high-end meat packages. Yesterday marked the first day of the raffle, with prizes that included two butchered rib eye's, two of their smoked and week-aged Wild Acres duck breasts, a four-pack of freshly ground and seasoned hamburgers, or a four-pack of fork-tender beef short ribs. The meat packages come with suggested cooking instructions, side recommendations and recipes.
The meat raffle will be held on Monday nights between 5 and 9 p.m., with the first drawing held at 6 p.m. More information can be found on Haute Dish's website
