Winter Culinary & Wine Experience invites foodies for a weekend getaway

This weekend Grand View Lodge hosts it's first Winter Culinary & Wine Experience

Looking for a last minute winter weekend getaway? On January 25-27, the Grand View Lodge (in Nisswa, just north of Brainerd) will be hosting it's first Winter Culinary & Wine Experience. The event will feature a slew of wine and culinary professionals from around the state offering their expertise in the form of various demonstrations and seminars focused around food and wine.

Tickets for the event start at $199 for general admission, but that ticket price get's you lodging for the weekend, breakfasts, and admission to all of Saturday's events. Grand View Lodge's Cru restaurant will host a wine dinner on the 25th that will run would-be diners an additional $70, and on Sunday the Twin Cities Cooks of Crocus Hill will present a Laurent-Perrier Champagne brunch. If you're not looking for weekend lodging, a Saturday-only day pass is available for $95 per person.

The event will start at 11 a.m. Saturday with a full day's roster of events. Cooks of Crocus Hill will be doing a risotto demonstration, the Wine Company will be giving a lecture on how to read French wine labels, and World Class Wines will be doing a seminar on sushi making and saki pairing.

Attendees can also attend a "grand tasting" featuring a vast array of wines. According to the event promoters, "the main event, the de'Vine Grand Tasting, will offer more than 130 fine wines and a selection of culinary dishes delicately prepared by Grand View Lodge's talented chefs. Offering pairing lessons for both wine novices and seasoned oenophiles, the de'Vine Grand Tasting will allow guests to discover new recipes, sip on old favorites, and experience new flavor combinations."

Later in the evening event-goers can attend a special wine and chocolate pairing event called S'mores & Ports. The event is said to take place fireside.
