Moving in and removing the chain on East Lake Street

Does no one appreciate the chain? Everyone is looking to get off one, as evidenced by the "off the chain" restaurants on Guy Fieri's television show, and now Zeke's is breaking lose in south Minneapolis. A new restaurant with an unusual name is coming to the Longfellow neighborhood.

Zeke's Unchained Animal is moving into the former Italianni's/Lake Street Garage space on East Lake Street. The owners have gutted the room and are now pulling the pieces together. They have installed a granite-topped bar. Beer tap selections are being made (look for seasonal brews from nearby Harriet Brewing), and a menu finalized. They will serve pizzas, burgers, and wings, with brunch service on the weekends.

The team behind the restaurant is a collective of chefs trained locally at Le Cordon Bleu and the Arts Institute International. They had hoped to open on New Year's Eve, but as these things go, that date has had to be pushed back. Look for their doors to swing open mid to late January.
