A new Northeast Park brewery opens its taproom

After officially launching their line last night at downtown bar The Pourhouse, new Northeast Park brewery 612Brew says they are also ready to pour pints for patrons of their 65-seat taproom.

Here's more details about the exact date and the beers that will be on tap.

The plans for 612Brew have been in the works for a few years now with friends and co-founders   Robert Kasak, Ryan Libby, Adit Kalra, and Jamey Rossbach setting out to bring some more sessionable (i.e. lower alcohol content) beers to the Twin Cities scene. The group brought on Adam Schill, who formerly worked at Tyranena Brewing Company in Wisconsin, Magic Hat Brewing Company in Vermont, and Cold Spring Brewing Co. here in Minnesota, to take the position of head brewer at 612Brew.

Schill has created four beers that will be the first available from 612Brew including: Rated R - a West Coast style IPA that promises to be their fullest-bodied and hoppiest beer; SIX - an American pale ale named for the 6 bus that ran by the original brewing site of this biscuity beer; Bitter Cold Winter IPA Series #1 - a single-hop, single malt IPA that's the first in a series of winter seasonal ales; and finally Zero Hour - an aggressive black ale.

So when can you enjoy these beers and check out 612's facilities? February 13th (just in time for a fun and inexpensive Valentine's Day excursion) at 4:00 P.M. will be the first day the taproom will be open to the public. For now, they'll just be serving beer but eventually plan to add an outdoor amphitheater and rain garden to accommodate outdoor concerts and food trucks.

In a fashion typical of the old buildings of this area, the interior of the 612 taproom will have a somewhat industrial feel with exposed brick and beams, floors made of polished concrete, and their bar is cleverly made out of reclaimed parts from old bowling alley lanes.

Check it out next week!
