| Barbette gets the good times rolling for Mardi Gras with prix fixe dining |
Today is Mardi Gras, and
Barbette plans to celebrate in a blaze of food- and drink-filled glory. The popular Lake Street French bistro will be serving a special prix fixe menu coupled with its weekly happy hour offerings in celebration of the nation's biggest pre-Lenten party.
Barbette will feature several specials, including a four-course prix fixe menu tonight that will offer a nice smattering of traditional New Orleans-style cuisine and multiple happy hours with a variety of drink and snack specials.

Barbette's head chef, Sarah Master, is a Minnesota native who started her culinary career in New Orleans. There she attended culinary school and worked for such prestigious restaurants as the Ritz-Carlton's five-star Victor's and at chef Susan Spicer's Bayona. After returning to Minneapolis, she has spent time in the kitchens of Restaurant Alma, Spoonriver, and Porter & Frye.
Master has put together a special prix fixe menu that will include a black-eyed-pea-battered fried shrimp, a quail and crawfish etoufee featuring Wild Acres quail, Fischer Farms braised pork shoulder, and a pecan pie with sweet potato ice cream or an optional cheese course, all for $32. The menu will be available through tonight.
Barbette will also feature several happy hour specials, with $4 select taps, wines, sparkling wines, and cocktails. They'll also feature $5 happy hour snacks, which will include mussels, pommes frites, fruit-and-cheese plate, oysters, warm olives, and terrine. Happy hours will run Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. and Sunday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to close.
