The chic bar at Kinsen Noodles in Uptown will dim its lights for the last time tonight

After a year and a half in business, the affordable but oft-overlooked Kinsen Noodles and Bar in Uptown announced it will be closing its doors tomorrow, February 27.

The pan-Asian ramen house received mixed critical reviews but made several attempts to bring in new staff and rev up its offerings. Over time Kinsen managed to find an audience with vegan and vegetarian diners.

No explicit reasons for the unceremonious shuttering were given on the restaurant's Facebook page, where owners simply stated, "Kinsen will be open until Tuesday and will officially be closing its doors on Wednesday February 27th. Now would be a great time to come and enjoy our noodles for the last time. We'd also like to thank everyone who has supported us since we've been open."

Devotees are already lamenting its thrifty happy hours and speedy delivery service. No information has been made public regarding what kind of business, restaurant or otherwise, will be moving into the space. What would you like to see go in here? Anything that this area of Uptown is lacking?

Could somebody perhaps create a Cafe Latte setting on this corner? It got close on one of the many previous tenants. Just wish someone would pull together a true cafeteria with many soups, a variety of salads and desserts galore. I'd gladly carry a tray to my bistro table for some people watching at a key Uptown intersection.

uptown used to be run by punks and gutter rats. Now it is littered with hicks from wisconsin seeking culture ( culture means drinking) pretty much uptown sucks now and has a commercialized feel. It could have been so sweet.

Have to agree with the others. Received rude, lousy service a year ago when they first opened and never went back. Not interested in spending money there when there are so many other options to get great food and great service.

How about a non frat boy, anti douche bag bar... Is that possible for uptown anymore?

I wish everybody that lives in uptown now would have stayed in the burbs, or their small WI towns.

The owners also have another spot, KinDee, over by the Guthrie. Any word on the status of that location?

They're closing for a reason, pass. Granted, their secret peanut butter and jellyfish menu item (and the cool bartender) will be missed.

The food was bad and overpriced for what it was. Horrible service. Actually one of the worst experiences I've had at any restaurant in Uptown over years. I suspected they would be closing very soon...

Can't say I'm surprised.  Happy hour deals can't make up for indifferent service and sub-par food.
