|Longtime Loring Park resident Joe's Garage is closing|
It had a rooftop patio with a killer summer view long before everyone was slapping a deck up on a building. Joe's Garage was always a popular spot for people (and even their pooches) to bask in the sun and grab a burger. Today, via its Facebook page
and Twitter account, Joe's Garage announced that its last day will be March 23. But is that the final chapter for this prime real estate?
On the Foodie File blog
at Mpls/ St. Paul
magazine, food editor Stephanie March reports that Jack Riebel, owner of the wildly popular Butcher & the Boar restaurant (and James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef Midwest and Best New Restaurant), will be brought in to consult on the next incarnation of the restaurant, owned by Joe Kaplan.

In an interview with Claire Stanford of Eater Minneapolis
yesterday, Riebel teased that he was working on "a bar and kitchen concept. So it will be a really cool bar with great food, more of a small plate. More of a bar with food in it, not a full-service restaurant. It's going to be in Loring Park. It's an existing restaurant that we're going to rebuild and reconcept, and I'm going to consult on that."
Riebel did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
Until then, close out the era by visiting the Joe's Garage website to make reservations to visit in their last week of business.
