Blogger bake sale to benefit Share Our Strength
Local food bloggers are pitching in to fight childhood hunger Saturday, May 4, at Kitchen in the Market in Midtown Global Market. The bloggers are organizing a bake sale to raise money for Share Our Strength, an organization working to alleviate childhood hunger. Here's the scoop.
Eat treats to help kids
The bake sale is being organized for the second year by Hot Dish contributor Lisa Nguyen Gaulke, who's website is Delightfully Midwestern. Other participating bloggers are Carley Bohnen of Carley Beans, Lisa Syse of Sugar and Snapshots, Matt Weber of Thyme in Our Kitchen, and Lynn Morioka of Eat Drink Life Love, plus more. No one has yet announced what they will be baking, but chances are it's going to be delicious. Past contributions have included Calimyrna fig jam, Momofuku's compost cookies, bacon spiked popcorn, and ornately adorned cupcakes.
In addition to the homemade goods, New French Bakery is donating bread for sale. All profits will go directly to Share Our Strength.
The bake sale will be held at the shared commercial kitchen space Kitchen in the Market, in a corner of Midtown Global Market on East Lake Street. The attached ramp has free parking for three hours; just remember to get your ticket validated by one of MGM's vendors.
The bake sale will run from noon to 3 p.m.
