In Season closing for the summer, will resurface this fall
Culturally and historically, we think of spring as the time for rebirth, renewal, and re-emergence, but apparently in the Twin Cities restaurant world there's a burgeoning movement to make fall the season for cleaning out the cobwebs and debuting new concepts.
Just after Travail's announcement of its plan to shutter April 6 and reopen again as a smaller restaurant come September-ish, chef Don Saunders tells Heavy Table his restaurant In Season, the under-the-radar foodie favorite in Armatage, will be closing for the summer but will resurface in the fall with a new concept.
Perhaps the biggest change is that the new In Season will only be open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, but the idea of the menu revolving around up-to-the-minute seasonally fresh ingredients will remain. The new In Season will serve a tasting menu only, offering four courses for around $40 to $50 per guest.
No exact dates were given, but we'll keep you in the loop on when you'll be able to get your last tastes of pea shoots and fiddlehead ferns before Saunders returns this fall. In the meantime, you can always hit up his other restaurant, the Kenwood.
