After a ten year run, the beloved Biella on Water Street in downtown Excelsior has closed their doors. The restaurant struggled to find a new home after a rent increase at their original location. Sadly, the move proved to be their undoing.
They announced the closure via their Facebook page
To the Best Customers Ever,
After months of working to try to move Biella to the corner I have decided to close after a great TEN year run. As most of you know our current landlord decided to double our rent which forced us to move. With frustration with Hennepin County and other regulations along with the increasing costs to move and delays put on me my decision was made to not go through with the move.
Their last dinner service will be Sunday, June 23. Owner Mark Nazigian urged friends and fans to stop by to say goodbye.
The cozy Italian eatery was known for their upscale tasting menu as well as a great place for an elegant happy hour deal. It was always a lovely spot for a glass of wine and an opportunity to savor Excelsior's charm.
