|Get a Bender at the Brooklyn Center brewery|
Back in April, Surly Brewing confirmed Prospect Park as the location of its new destination brewery, complete with onsite bar, restaurant, beer garden, and event center. But you won't have to wait until building is complete to enjoy a Surly brew on Surly grounds. Following in the footsteps of other popular local breweries like Fulton, Indeed, and 612Brew, Surly announced it will open a taproom in its Brooklyn Center facility, reports the Star Tribune.
It's surprising that the company is just now taking advantage of their namesake bill, which has allowed several other Twin Cities breweries to legally sell their own beer by the glass on brewery grounds. Surly has always had their flagship beers available to customers in their tasting room, which are given away as samples at the end of their brewery tours.
The plan is to expand that existing tasting room into a real, full-blown taproom. They'll be open from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday evenings, and on Friday and Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Servers will now staff the taproom and fill up Hell, Bender, Furious, and other seasonal beers in three different sized glasses.
No doubt the taproom opening will draw food trucks and weekend entertainment, but for now the taproom transformation is still in the works and an exact opening date has yet to be announced. Stay tuned for updates.
