Cold beer, cool tunes, and hot eats, what could be better?

Without question, a gathering of food trucks is cause for celebration. Throw in some beer and local music and it's likely an evening of fun. Now, not every gathering has been a huge success; poor planning and high prices have plagued some other truck events. The difference with this event is that it's actually being run by the trucks -- no one knows their fans better than these small-business owners. The Minnesota Food Truck Association is inviting everyone to their first annual Great Minnesota Food Truck Rally on Saturday, July 27, at Harriet Brewing.

The event will be held from noon until 10 p.m., is open to all ages, and entry is free, but those over 21 can get wristbands for frosty beer beverages.

Twelve trucks will be serving up their goodies, and it's a great selection of established businesses with new trucks. The line up includes: AZ Canteen, the MidNord Empanada Truck, Potter's Pasties, Bloomy's Roast Beef, Gogi Bros Korean Barbecue, House of Hunger, Lulu's Street Food, Brava on Wheels, Moral Omnivore, Hot Indian Foods, r.a. MacSammy's, and A La Plancha.

And because local food and brews pair so beautifully with music, the lineup of bands includes the Butanes, Maurice Jacox Group, Concentual, and Big Blue Station Wagon, with Vinyl Lounge kicking things off.

Each truck will be selling one menu item made specifically to pair with a Harriet Brew on tap. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Second Harvest Heartland to benefit hungry families in Minnesota. Guests are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item.

The Great MN Food Truck Rally is a one-day-only event and will take place rain or shine. Parking is available behind Harriet Brewing Company and on the streets surrounding the brewery. The Minnesota Food Truck Association is a nonprofit organization of area food trucks that also works as a resource for our food trucks. For more details on the association, the trucks, their mission, or upcoming events (because they plan on making this a regular thing), check them out at or follow them on Twitter @FoodTrucksMN
