|Ideal Diner: Slinging crispy hashbrowns once again|
Late this morning, owner Kim Robinson confirmed that the Ideal Diner on Central Avenue has officially re-opened for business following a months-long hiatus.
Robinson, a longtime server at the diner, bought the restaurant from Kevin Kelzenberg back in April and closed it down temporarily in order to work on a remodel. Robinson planned to update the kitchen but leave the original 13-seat counter area mostly untouched. Her plan is to be open seven days a week from breakfast until late afternoon. Dinner service may be added after everything gets up and running again.
While one restaurant re-opens in Northeast, another entirely different kind of eatery in Uptown announced its plans to expand.
The Social House, a sushi restaurant on the corner of Hennepin and Lagoon, has increased its capacity by about 50 seats by taking over the empty space next door, reports the Southwest Journal.
In addition to the larger dining area, the restaurant will now be able to host DJs due to an upgraded liquor license.
To celebrate the new space, the restaurant is throwing a Summer Social party this coming Thursday, featuring some new menu items and several new specialty cocktails. Check out the event Facebook page
