|More lucys for burger fans|
One of the classics in the stuffed-burger realm is coming to the east side. The 5-8 Club has announced that it's in talks to buy a new location for fans to get their gooey fix.
The owners are considering a move into the former Chula Vista space on Robert Street, the Pioneer Press
reports. Plans involve gutting the space and doing a total remodel to include a bar and patio. The owners of the 5-8 Club told to City Pages the deal is not yet final, and that they might try out a new restaurant concept in that space if they acquire it.
The original 5-8 Club resides in south Minneapolis. Purportedly once a speakeasy, it now serves a mess of massive hamburgers stuffed with molten cheese and piles of salty, crispy fries. Fans rabidly argue over who had the first and best Juicy Lucy in the Twin Cities, since both the 5-8 Club and Matt's Bar in south Minneapolis claim to have originated the Juicy Lucy. Either way, it's hard to argue that putting the cheese inside the burger wasn't a stroke of genius.
