Do you know what sets Burgundy wines apart from those made in Bordeaux, Napa Valley, or Tuscany? Not all wines are created equal, and even the most experienced oenophile can use a little brushing up on those wine-tasting skills every once in a while.

This October, join the Alliance Française in raising a glass (filled with Burgundy, of course) and learning about the region, the wine, and the people who make this celebrated drink.

Join local wine lovers and Francophiles for the event on Wednesday, October 2nd, to watch A Year in Burgundy directed by David Kennard. Sponsored by Alliance Française de Minneapolis/St. Paul, South Lyndale Liquors, Martine's Wines, and Grandpère Wines, the event will combine wine and film for an evening steeped in the rich history of the wine-making region and the people who cultivate the grapes. Proceeds will benefit the Alliance Française, an organization committed to bringing French culture and education opportunities to the Twin Cities.

A Year in Burgundy chronicles the lives and vineyards of seven wine-making families in Burgundy, France, in 2011. California-based wine importer Martine Saunier brings viewers along for the ride to meet multi-generational wine making families and the unofficial Queen of Burgundy -- a world-renowned winemaker in her 80s.
