Some Bent River Camembert to go with your beer?
The Minnesota Cheese Festival returns to the State Fairgrounds this weekend and promises to be a better-organized event this time around, with four sessions spread over the course of two days plus additional staff and vendors.

People naturally think of pairing wine with cheese, but the festival organizers seem to know their audience, so they're doing beer pairings as well. Schell's Pils will be matched with Stickney Hills honey chèvre, Summit Saga with Caves of Fairbault AmaBlu, and Brau Bros. Ring Neck Brown with Alemar Cheese Company's Good Thunder. Tickets for the Saturday and Sunday sessions are $15 and are available here

There's plenty more taproom, brewpub, and beer bash action to be had this weekend. Here are the highlights:

Herkimer Pub and Brewery is celebrating the release of its Oktoberfest Lager this weekend. Festivities start at 5 p.m. on Saturday with live music going until 10 p.m.. Admission is free, but you can also purchase a big ol' commemorative stein for $20 with $10 refills. Fill up on fried fish, brats, and pretzels before trying your hand at a game of traditional Hammerschlagen.

Also of note, tonight Hermikmer's After Workin' Firkin will be their Hazelnut Oatmeal Stout.

On Sunday Butcher and the Boar hosts an all-out beer bash starting at 3:00 p.m. Live music and DJ sets will complement featured brews from Brash Brewery including Smoglifter Chocolate Imperial Stout and Item 9 IPA, and some from Clown Shoes like Crunkle Sam dry-hopped Barleywine Ale and their brand new Bombay Berserker Indian Chai Stout.

Surly will have a new beer featured in their taproom this weekend. The German Dampfbier they brewed exclusively for Kramarczuk's Kielbasa Fest last weekend is now available for all to sample. If you missed it last time, Misanthrope will also still be on tap along with Pentagram, Overrated, and more. Lulu's Street Food truck will be parked there tonight and Scratch Food Truck will be there tomorrow.

Remember to drop by Bang Brewing's just-opened taproom to try their flagship beer Neat Pale Ale, and check out their space. They're open tonight from 5 to 10 p.m and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.
