|Yard House bringing yards and yards of taps to St. Louis Park|
The Shops at the West End are cashing in on the beer boom in a big way. Joining Cooper Irish Pub
, Figlio 2.0
, and who could forget, Toby Keith's I Love This Bar
(and Grill? Maybe Toby is just lukewarm on the grill part), is a new outpost of a California-based bar chain called Yard House
Yard House recently signed a lease agreement for the 10,500-square-foot space on Park Place Boulevard, which will be the 48th location of the bar and restaurant, reports the St. Paul/Minneapolis Business Journal.
Yard House is owned by Darden Restaurant Group, the parent company that also owns several other recognizable nationwide chains including Olive Garden and Red Lobster.
The concept is to offer between 130 and 250 beers at each of their locations, all with see-through tap lines in a see-through keg room. This particular location plans to have 140 tap lines, making it one of the largest selections of any restaurant or bar in the state. But just because they're big doesn't mean they'll only go with big-name brewers. Yard House will emphasize local craft breweries (they'd be remiss not to include St. Louis Park's Steel Toe Brewing
) and Midwest regional favorites.
As far as food goes, the official party line of the restaurants is that they serve "upscale-casual American." The massive online menu showcases a jumble of items like swordfish tacos with cabbage slaw and mango-papaya chutney, Kung Pao calamari with candied walnuts and red peppers, a grilled pastrami sandwich with pickled jalapeños, ribeye steak with shallot butter, and mac and cheese with truffle and applewood-smoked bacon.
A rep for the company says the plan is to open the St. Louis Park location sometime in early 2014.
