One of St. Paul's most anticipated fall restaurant openings happened without much pomp or circumstance yesterday afternoon.
Seventh Street Social, a new contemporary comfort classics eatery that is in no way associated with Eat Street or Northeast Social, is now officially up and running in Highland Park.
The restaurant has not yet posted a full menu anywhere but has revealed several hints on its Facebook page
, including spicy shrimp with tomatoes and toasted couscous; slow-smoked baby back ribs with fries and coleslaw; pot roast braised in local Flat Earth dark beer with sweet butter mashed potatoes; house cured gravlax with chopped hard-boiled egg, capers, creme fraiche and raw onion; and a crunchy green apple chicken salad with cilantro, scallions, and orange-honey vinaigrette.
For now the restaurant will be open from 4:00 p.m. to midnight or 1:00 a.m. every day of the week, but adding lunch service is in their long-term plan.
