|Town Hall gets a shout-out |
Since its inception, Town Hall Brewery
has produced many award-winning beers including their Hope & King Scotch ale, which took home a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival in 2011, and the Russian Roulette chocolate imperial stout, which took home the same award in 2008. Several brewers who got their start at Town Hall have gone on to open their own successful brewing businesses, including Jamie Robinson from Northbound Smokehouse Brewpub.
The accolades don't stop there. Last week Complex City Guide
named Minneapolis's Town Hall Brewery one of the best brewpubs in the nation.
The NYC-based lifestyle site lists 15 of the country's best brewpubs, which are defined as bars or restaurants that brew and sell their own beer on the premises. Complex
placed Town Hall in the No. 6 slot, with fellow Midwestern brewpubs Revolution Brewery and Piece Brewery & Pizzeria, both in Chicago, and Grumpy Troll in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin
rounding out the list.
The site singles out Town Hall's perennial favorite, Masala Mama IPA, and the thick, well-balanced oatmeal stout as signature brews. If you need an excuse to re-visit the brewpub, they're celebrating their Anniversary Week starting October 21, with the release of their special Anniversary Ale. Check the Town Hall Facebook page
for more details.
