|They may be over in Munich but Oktoberfest celebrations continue this weekend in Minneapolis|
It's officially October in Minnesota and that means there's no shortage of Oktoberfest celebrations going on in the Twin Cities.
Top billing for this weekend goes to 612Brew's Oktoberfest
which is being held tomorrow at their Northeast brewery. There will be a full line-up of bands including Fort Wilson Riot
, food trucks including Bloomy's Roast Beef
and the Minnesota Twins Truck
, and of course they'll be pouring 612Brew's Oktoberfest beer. Consider this event a chance to don your Bavarian finery because 612 will be giving away door prizes to the attendees with the best Oktoberfest costumes. Activities kick off at noon and go until 7:00 p.m., and best of all, admission to this event is free.
On Sunday, Butcher & the Boar
hosts its 3rd annual Boarfest
, a day of beer, bourbon, music, and lots of sausage. The B&B kitchen team is making a special Knob Creek maple sausage for the event and shucking plenty of fresh oysters to wash down with cold Fulton beer or their new brewed ginger ale. Solid Gold
, Jack Brass Band, and Davina and the Vagabonds
will be playing, among others. The event runs from noon until 10:00 p.m. and admission is free.
A reminder that this is the final weekend of Black Forest Inn's
Oktoberfest. If you haven't been, now's the time to go. Tonight they'll be honoring the German hits of the '80s by releasing 99 (biodegradable) red balloons and giving out samples of Berentzen liqueurs. Saturday is Tie the Knot where you can get married, renew vows, or celebrate your anniversary. They'll also be giving away cases of Summit. Sunday is Drain the Keg, where the price of beer keeps dropping until all the kegs are cleared. Check out the full list of activities here
There's a new beer on tap at Surly
this weekend called El Hefe Negro, an Imperial Dunkel Weizen with strong banana aroma, low bitterness, and a whole lot of structure and body. They also have a limited amount of WET left, as well as their You're In Trouble. Gai Gai Thai
will be there tonight and Gogi Bros. Korean BBQ truck
will roll up tomorrow.
Drop by Pour Decisions
tap room in Roseville tonight any time after 4:30 p.m. and try a Minnesota Berliner Weisse made with elderberries and black currants. Betty's Cocina will be parked outside and serving tacos starting at around 5:00.
Summit's tap room
is open tonight from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 pouring Oatmeal Vanilla Stout, Oktoberfest, and other year-rounds. Fork in the Road
food truck will be pulled up outside.
