Kim and Melgaard had hinted that their new restaurant, the Rabbit Hole, would soon serve lunch, though we didn't realize the Left Handed Cook would be coming over to serve it.
Indeed, as of yesterday, Thomas Kim and Kat Melgaard have closed their first venture, the Left Handed Cook. The two will bring many of the Midtown Global Market stall's beloved menu items to their second venture, the Rabbit Hole. There will be the Bok Bok Bowl, the kimchi and poached egg topped poutine, and all the other favorites that have made the Left Handed Cook a darling of Twin Cities' midday eaters.
The duo spoke exclusively with the Hot Dish to reveal why they made this decision.

"We're consolidating," explained Kim. Not only will the popular items from the Left Handed Cook be on the menu, so will the Rabbit Hole's burgers -- dishes near and dear to Kim's heart. (Earlier in his career, he ran a kitchen known for its killer burgers.)

"It's been cool, being in that space," Kim said. "[Midtown Global Market] is getting better and it will only be getting better."
The two stressed that they worked with Midtown Global Market to make this choice and will be working together with the market to bring a new vendor into the space that the Left Handed Cook is vacating.
"The point of the market is to help people start businesses," said Melgaard. "Us, Sonora Grill
, La Loma. The market works with us and for us."
The two hope to fold the Left Handed Cook into the Rabbit Hole by the end of the year or early next year. The restaurant space will open at 11:30 a.m. and will serve lunch until 1 p.m., when they will close again until 4 p.m. for dinner. What will they add to their plates next? Brunch. The menu will be a combination of the two restaurants: a fusion, punk rock, twist on awesome eats.

Update: An earlier version of this post stated that the Left Handed Cook would be open until the end of the year. Kim and Melgaard closed the Left Handed Cook yesterday. The post has been changed to reflect this.
