The Birchwood announces its closing date
The time has come, Birchwood fans. Seward's Birchwood Cafe has announced its temporary closing date as part of a Kickstarter-funded remodel. The Birchwood will be doing pop-up breakfasts at Verdant Tea 7 days a week until they reopen.
Birchwood's process for expansion has been a long journey, one that goes back several years. In the fall of 2012, the neighborhood cafe reached out to its neighbors to seek approval for their proposed remodel. In the fall of 2013, the neighborhood favorite launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund their add-on. The campaign eventually raised over $112,000 and now the construction is about to commence.

According to Birchwood, "Much of the initial construction phase is complete. Right outside our current dining room's south facing wall is our soon to be sun-filled Community Room." They expect to reopen sometime later this Spring.

Until then, you'll still be able to get your favorite neighborhood breakfasts at Seward's Verdant Tea, where Birchwood's chef Marshall Paulson will be doing an extended pop-up menu, which will feature their famous savory waffle. Find them at Verdant from 8 a.m. to noon every day until Birchwood 2.0 is up and running.
