|Salty Tart's stately confection for Share Our Strength's Cakewalk|
One of the tastiest charity events of the year is right around the corner. Every year, the best pastry chefs in the Twin Cities come out to support Share Our Strength in their fight against childhood hunger.
This year, in addition to having the confections of pastry chefs like Diane Yang of La Belle Vie
and the James Beard Award-nominated Michelle Gayer of Salty Tart
, there will be a collection of savory bites -- including an exclusive first taste from an anticipated new restaurant.
This year Chef JD Fratzke of the Strip Club
and the upcoming Saint Dinette
will serve up a first taste of his much anticipated Lowertown restaurant. Plus, Erik Anderson, who has returned to town from the critically acclaimed Catbird Seat in Nashville will also be serving savory bites for the VIP area. That means two culinary heavy hitters with dishes you won't be able to find anywhere else in town.
In the general admission area, expect to find fine cheese paired with the heavenly breads of Solveig Tofte's Sun Street Breads
Attendees are automatically entered for the chance to compete in the main event, a cakewalk featuring cakes from Angel Food Bakery, Buttercream, the Buttered Tin, Cupcake, Mademoiselle Miel, Pang Cakes, Patisserie 46, Rye Deli, and the one and only Zoe Francois
In addition to the food, there will also be cocktails on hand, included in the price of admission, made by some of the area's top bartenders.
All the proceeds will benefit Share Our Strength Minneapolis
in their ongoing effort to end childhood hunger. The money will go towards not only helping get food into the hands of kids that need it, but also helping educate families about making healthy meals at home and filling in during the summer months when schools aren't there to provide kids with meals.
This year's event will be held on Thursday March 13 at Aria in downtown Minneapolis. Doors open at 7 p.m. for VIP and 8 p.m. for general admission. Tickets are $65-85 and are available here
