It looks like northeast Minneapolis's pot roast emporium, Modern Cafe, has set its sights on bigger pastures. On the restaurant's Twitter feed yesterday, they posted an image of a floor plan detailing what looks to be the addition of 620 square feet of space.

According to the plan, the Modern's current size is just over 1,500 square feet, so this would make for a pretty hefty increase in their overall footprint.
In typical Modern fashion, they joked on their social media pages that, "Part of our expansion will include Sochi style bathrooms. You asked, we listened."
At least we hope they're joking.
Modern Cafe, whose slogan is "All you can eat, for as much as it costs," has been a Twin Cities dining institution since 1994, when chef Jim Grell purchased the space in the classic 1940s building and transformed it into the neighborhood dining hot spot it is today. The menu features locally inspired dishes made from organic and sustainably raised ingredients.
Construction is set to begin this spring.
