|Indurritos served! Hot Indian parks its business at MGM.|
The lights went out at one of the most popular stalls inside the Midtown Global Market when the Left Handed Cook folded into the Rabbit Hole. But Thomas Kim, chef and owner of those restaurants, hinted to us that that the stall wouldn't be dark for long. Now, Hot Indian, the food truck purveyor of those fan-favorite Indurritos, will be going brick-and-mortar at that very address.
The Hot Indian food truck
has been a runaway success since making its debut last summer in a bright orange truck with a lovely Indian lady on the side (her nickname is Sona). The truck is owned by Amol Dixit and operated by executive chef Janene Holig and sous chef Rebecca Jackson, both of whom used to work at Wise Acres Eatery.
Fans love the truck's signature Indurrito -- an Indian take on a burrito, with a selection of fillings wrapped in Indian Roti. Their Indi-frites are extra-crispy French fries tossed in a bewitching mix of Indian spices and won Best Food Truck Dish at the 2013 Charlie Awards.
Surprisingly, despite the global food selections inside the Midtown Global Market, there are no other stalls serving Indian cuisine. That's all about to change. We won't have to wait long to get a taste of that zesty and cheesy spinach and paneer Indurrito. Hot Indian will take over the lease on April 1 and should be open by May.
