Anodyne Coffeehouse, a neighborhood favorite for coffee-lovers, vegans, vegetarians, and Kingfield denizens, will serve its last cup of joe and its final bowl of fancy oatmeal on June 29.

Bull Run Coffee in Lyn-Lake to expand

The coffee shop and restaurant posted the news on its Facebook page this morning.

"It's just time to move on, that's all," says owner Theresa Cook. "I've owned it for 17 years. It's been fabulous, and I've enjoyed every day of it. I sold the business and someone else is going to come in and sell coffee. We just wanted to make sure we had time to say goodbye to people."

That other coffee business moving in is none other than Uptown favorite Bull Run Coffee. This will be the second location for Bull Run, which opened its first location at 34th and Lyndale in 2011 and is currently in the process of expanding. And if you're already fretting about where to get your breakfast scrambles, waffles, and vegan burritos, Brent Ringate of Bull Run says they'll be keeping the Anodyne menu when the shop changes hands.

Actually I think hipsters embracing bacon might have killed them off... It is hard to be a vegan and then go "Err meh gerd! Bacon beer!"

I live 2 blocks away. I've been waiting for Anodyne to close for a long time. It's so dirty, shows the owner stopped caring many years ago. I hope Bull Run guts the entire shop, or at least does a thorough cleaning with lots and lots of bleach.

If you need an "anodyne" fix, try anodyne acupuncture in Richfield. It's just as cool, but in a different way.

Dislike!!! I loved Anodyne and their friendliness when I tried my hand as a vendor for the kingfield market back in the day. Great pastries and super coffee at a very chill location! 17 years is a long time but I am sad there won't be more.

If you had advertised this hard for them for free when they were open, maybe they would have survived.

Such a bummer. I really loved that coffee shop. Wish they would sell it and someone else could pick up the Anodyne torch and run with it. They are always busy so it seems doable and somewhat of a sure business bet.

Life has many chapters. The ones that mentioned Anodyne will always be a favorite.

But what a run! 18 years in coffeehouse years?! It's like 116 years or something. Glad I could be a small part of it. Non Nikki ?

Dang! I'll miss my Mississippi Mud, but Bull Run is pretty great, so it's hard to get my panties in a knot about this.

Sad to see you go, but Bull Run Coffee is exciting. Is it true they are going to continue with the food menu?

A few years ago I started working on a blog called 52 Coffees where I hoped to visit a new Twin Cities coffeehouse every week for a year. Well, three years in I had only gotten up to #40, but Anodyne was one of my top 5 favorites among them. I'm not in Kingfield very often, but Anodyne was always a must-visit for me in that area. I'm very sad to see it go.

What a bummer. Anodyne is an excellent coffeehouse with great vegan treats. They will definitely be missed.

@really You okay there, buddy? Maybe it's time to take a look at your life and try to figure out why you're obviously so unhappy. Meanwhile, let this dude have fun with his little blog.
