Travail's summer vacation party: Pig roast, mussels, lawn games, live music, and karaoke
Hang out with Mike Brown, James Winberg, and the rest of the Travail gang.
The bad news is that Travail Kitchen and Amusements is taking a summer break from June 29 through July 17. The good news is that they'll go out with a bang, throwing the all-afternoon Prevailed Party! on June 29, featuring eats, drinks, bands, and lawn games at Lakeview Terrace Park in Robbinsdale. The best news is that the general public is invited to partake in the revelry as the resto thanks its Kickstarter backers for their generous support. And as of now, tickets are still available.
Travail and The Rookery: The Tour
The Travail gang promises rocking courtesy of Heiruspecs, New Sound Underground, Solid Gold, and Charlie Parr, plus roasted pigs, grilled corn, and "dots to be dipped" -- think of the dessert requiring liquid nitrogen. Their ticketing page proclaims, "It wouldn't be a party without local brews from the likes of Surly Brewing Company, Fulton Beer, Summit Brewing Company," so rest assured, you'll get your quaff on, too.
For a little visual taste of what could be at the Prevailed Party!, pictures and posts have been appearing on Travail's social media sites. They've hinted at mussels (and muscles) from the Fish Guys, sausage made by Geoff Hausmann, and pulled pork sammies, and have even suggested that Mike Brown and Landon Schoenefeld from Haute Dish might sing with the live karaoke band Mockstar.
The shindig lasts from 1 to 8 p.m., rain or shine. You'll need cash for all food and drink purchases (in the $3 to $6 range), and no umbrellas, chairs, or bags (save for diaper bags) will be allowed in the park. Parking will be limited to specific areas at three local businesses and handicapped spots at the park, so public transportation, biking, and walking are highly advised.
We recommend you get your tickets soon so you don't miss the last Travail of the season. This party in the park should tide you over until they open again in the latter part of July.
$10 + $2.50 ticket fee, 14 and under are free
