Sisyphus Brewing opens, Fulton plans for the All Star Game, and more weekend beer events
After a busy Fourth of July, Hot Dish's Weekend Brew Round-up is back. With many local taprooms -- including Fulton and Boom Island -- expanding into Sundays (still no Growler sales), there are extended hours to try all those new and delicious beers.
With the All Star Game set to hit Target Field, the Twins' neighbors at Fulton have a lot in store. They just expanded their beer garden and will be introducing the new Designated Bitter at their North Loop taproom as well as select downtown bars. They also just brewed their first batch of beer at their upcoming second brewery in Northeast.
Just across downtown, Sisyphus Brewing is opening doors to the public at 12 p.m. on Friday by Loring Park and Dunwoody. They have four beers on tap, including Brett IPA, and will add to and rotate their line-up frequently, selling beers only in-house.
Also on Friday, Rob Miller of Dangerous Man will be at the Four Firkins from 6-8 p.m., talking brewing (but not pouring samples, since Dangerous Man remains available at the brewery only).
For those seeking tastings, Boom Island will be at Richfield Liquor (on 66th and Cedar) from 4-6 p.m. and at Liquor Boy in St. Louis Park from 4-7 p.m.
Harriet Brewing will host live music from Cary Morin on Saturday as MidNord Empanada is parked outside.
As for new Minnesota beers, in addition to Fulton's Designated Bitter, Schell's has released their summer Hefeweizen. Burning Brothers in St. Paul is working on an IPA and a stout to see release in their taproom in the near future.
For this week's food trucks, Vellee Deli (Friday) and Midnord Empanada and Get Sauced (Saturday) will be parked at Fulton; Cajun 2 Geaux (Friday) and Tollefson Family Grill (Saturday) are at Boom Island; and Gogi Bros (Friday) and Natedogs (Saturday) are at Summit--who are also tapping a firkin of Southern Cape Sparkling Ale on Friday.
