Drink at the zoo, hit the food trucks, and then run it all off this weekend

Not that you need to leave your favorite brewery to enjoy a frosty adult beverage, but why not kick back with a brew at the zoo or the casino this weekend? And when you're done, why not hit up some food trucks and run it all off in a 5K?

On Friday night, the Minnesota Zoo hosts the sixth annual Brew at the Zoo festival. With numerous brews on hand, live music, and live animals, the event has plenty of entertainment, and all proceeds benefit conservation programs. Meanwhile, Andrew Spreck will be playing live at the Lift Bridge taproom.

Starting Saturday at both Lake Wine & Cheese and at Liquor Lyle's is the Brooklyn Brewery Mash, a seven-day series of events around town with special dinners, tap takeovers, and more.

Also on Saturday, the Mystic Craft Beer Fest at Mystic Lake Casino will showcase of the products of 32 breweries and music from the Dan Band, and offer access to the casino. The Summer Sampler food truck rally will take place at Harriet Brewing, with 18 food trucks and all of Harriet's regular beers on tap. Earlier in the day, Boom Island will be featured in the MN Brewery Running Series 5K.

Sierra Nevada will host a tap takeover on Sunday at Butcher & the Boar and another on Tuesday at the Happy Gnome.

Monday is Badger Hill firkin night at Tavern 4&5 in Eden Prairie.

In new Minnesota beers, Bent Paddle has released Daypack Pale Ale and Olvalde's Brynhildr's Gift is available.

This weekend's food trucks include World Street Kitchen (Friday) and Hibachi Daruma (Saturday) at 612Brew and Simply Steve's (Friday), Butcher Salt (Saturday), and Kabomelette (Sunday) at Indeed.
