World Street Kitchen's daily happy hour means two beers and guac for under $10

A beacon of cheap happy hour snacks and drafts in Lyn-Lake

It's great to sit out on the big picnic tables in front of World Street Kitchen and watch the cars whiz by on Lyndale Avenue. Why? Because there's tons of tasty grub a mere counter away and you know it's much wiser to stay put at Sameh Wadi's casual eatery than to speed off somewhere.

And with happy hour happening twice a day, there's even more reason to hit up WSK this summer.

Some happy hour deals at WSK

Where: World Street Kitchen's bright sign hangs off that big mixed-use building on Lyndale, just north of 28th Street in Uptown. When the weather's nice, look for the aforementioned picnic tables out front. There's some parking in a small lot on the side of the restaurant and usually plenty of late-night street parking.
When: It's so nice, they happy hour twice -- every day from 3 to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close.
What's the vibe: If you're a Saffron fan, this is its casual sister joint, with equally worldly flavors but a street atmosphere in terms of food and decor. There's no table service or hard alcohol, but you won't miss it once you amble up, place your order, and find yourself sipping a cold draft or glass of vino while tucked in a cozy booth inside or a bench outside.
What can I eat for $10 or less: It's a limited selection, but the price is right. All of the items on their snack menu are half price during happy hour, which means a pickle plate full of pickled carrots, sprouts, cucumbers, onions and more for $1.50, "Blinged Out" guacamole with the unusual tastes of sesame oil and edamame and fresh chips for $3.25 or a plate of dips (hummus, feta, spiced olive) with pita for $3. Both the guac and the dips make for great post-bar grub if you're hitting the late night happy hour.
What can I drink for $5 or less: Sure, there's house chardonnay and malbec for $5, but the real deal here is the $3 drafts: Summit Saga IPA, Excelsior Big Island Blond, Surly Bitter Brewer and Shenanigans Summer Ale. Yes, that means you can get two beers and chips w/guac for under $10. That's worth the trip alone.
What's so good it's worth getting even though it's not a happy hour deal: The regular menu already boasts several ridiculously tasty items for less than $10, like the Bangkok Burritos or an O.G. Grilled Chicken Yum Yum rice bowl. Not able to keep to just the happy hour snacks? You'll still be a bargain gourmand if you get a deal on your tap beer.
