Over the moon for these popovers
Every week, we'll show you a photo we've snapped at a local restaurant -- it's up to you to guess the dish and the restaurant that serves it. The first person to answer correctly in the comments (create a Voice Places account or comment anonymously, but be sure to leave your email address when prompted-- it won't be visible), will be entered into a drawing to win a  gift card to a local restaurant.

This week we were dining on that magically puffy combination of eggs and flour with a few chef-styled flourishes. Popover, gougère, cheese puff -- call them what you will, just don't call us late for serving. This version is served with a creamy whipped spread and a judicious sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Have you ever had the pleasure of snacking on these mystery popovers?

Sometimes you're just in the mood for something deep fried and salty. At this jumping spot, that kind of snack comes perfectly crisp and three to an order. The creamy sauce they're served with has a hidden, sinus-clearing kick. These are just the sort of munchies we love to dig into while sipping a tall, blonde, locally brewed beer. Do you recognize these balls?

Winner, winner, where's this chicken dinner?

We are always and forever on the hunt for a perfect fried chicken dinner. Soul food has to be prepared with a lot of heart -- not always an easy feat outside of a grandma's kitchen.  This plate came with a crispy crust, coarsely smashed potatoes, and an herb and cheese-studded biscuit. It was a meal we might still be working off. Think you know where this dinner is served? Leave your answer in the comments section below.

Ain't no thing but a chicken wing
Stick us in any restaurant, high brow or low, and we're going to home in on the wings. Something about a crispy, spicy, smoky, sweet little piece of meat with a handle is irresistible. These diminutive wings are a zesty, sticky mess that left us licking our fingers. So now it's up to you: How well do you know the Twin Cities' wing landscape? Good luck!

Oysters for days

We may be landlocked, but we are nevertheless dining on fresh, raw oysters this week. These plump beauties have been plucked from the ocean, whisked over a couple of states, and delivered right to this waiting restaurant. All of the usual accoutrements are available, but we like them unadorned, briny, fresh, and wholly satisfying. Ever find yourself at a bivalve feast such as this?

Last week's sandwich was the one and only blushing beauty of a roast beef sandwich from Roseville's Maverick's. It's a culinary classic often imitated, but never replicated. Reader givemeabreak spotted it right away. You'll be entered in this month's drawing!

Vegetarians, you might want to avert your eyes

This week's dish is brought to you from beef country. Ribbons of tenderly cooked meat are piled onto a bun so buttery you'd think it was a close cousin of the croissant. We like to take ours in a little jus swim before packing in the perfect bite, but there are no rules here. If it looks familiar, we're guessing you're reaching for your car keys right now to head over to this spot and grab one for yourself.

Last week DannyBreeds took it upon himself to correctly identify our square-cut pizza not once, but three times. Red's Savoy in St. Paul is known for their particularly loyal fan base. You did them proud, sir, and you'll be entered in our drawing at the end of the month.

Pizza! Pizza!
The first clue as to where we found this divine slice of pizza pie is its square shape. We love how the crust is crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and wonderfully gooey on the top, laden with meats, cheese, and a truly wonderful sauce. Do you know where to find this dish?

Last week's classic Reuben was a treat from the one and only Cecil's Deli in St. Paul. Willblauvelt was the first to correctly guess and was entered in this month's drawing and won! Congratulations! Please email us to claim your prize.

We've got a four-napkin situation here
Hot meat, cool dressing, and a mess of sauerkraut: This sandwich is a full-faced commitment, so don't wear anything nice when dining on this dish. Still, it's hard not to feel like all is right in the world when gazing upon this plate and its side of crinkle fries. If you recognize this messy masterpiece let us know in the comments!

Last week's mystery dish pairs oh-so-well with the extensive beer selection in the cozy tented beer garden at the Butcher & the Boar. Those German Nachos are like poutine's bad-boy cousin: Fat french fries are laden with sauerkraut, sausage, molten cheese, and thinly sliced peppers. Nick.Valentine recognized them first, so he's in the running for our upcoming drawing. Congratulations!

Order this dish and don't make any plans for dessert
This mess of food was clearly created by some kind of evil bar food genius. What might start as an innocent snack shared between several friends will end with each of you crowding over the table, elbows out, sheltering the precious. Sound familiar? Leave us your best guess!

Last week's correct guesser nailed the chocolate pot de creme topped with whipped cream and hazelnuts from Cheeky Monkey Deli in St. Paul. Well done, KTFoley! You'll be entered in our next drawing at the end of the month.

Don't mind if we do...
Just like life, this dessert is a little bitter, a little sweet, and a little nutty. Throw some whipped cream up top and everything is better. Do you recognize this little vat of chocolate?

Even though it featured a fleeting soup special, last week's "Guess Where?" wasn't obscure enough to stump the modestly monikered staffofthegods, who caught our creamy soup and sandwich combo from Lowertown's the Buttered Tin. You'll be entered in our monthly drawing! Well played.
