Chai's Thai has served its last dish
What he had hoped to be an interim closing has sadly proven permanent for Chai's Thai owner George Zheng. He spoke with the Hot Dish about his decision not to reopen the once-beloved West Bank restaurant.

Breaking: Heidi's closed for good [PHOTO]

Last night this sad note hung on the door of Heidi's, and this afternoon the Hot Dish received confirmation that Heidi's has closed. Unfortunately, that isn't the only sad news from owners Stewart and Heidi Woodman.

The week begins with some sad news out of St. Paul: Yesterday was the final day of service for Jerabek's New Bohemian. They have served their last pot pie and poured their final cup of coffee. Saturday, the owners took to their website to let fans know that they would no longer be able to keep their doors open.

Heidi's 2.0 will close at the end of 2013

Since opening their first Minneapolis restaurant, Stewart and Heidi Woodman have been served their share of challenges, only to rise from the (sometimes literal) ashes.  Five, their 2005 restaurant, was hotly anticipated, but short-lived, and their next venture, the first incarnation of Heidi's, was destroyed in a fire. The wholesome food-focused Birdhouse, now shuttered, may have been before its time. Now, they will wind down the year with some greatest hits and return in 2014 with an entirely new concept.

According to a sign posted outside of True Thai this afternoon, the award-winning Thai restaurant, which has been plagued with financial and legal problems recently, is indeed closed.

The Lexington is up for sale... again

What was once a venerable St. Paul dining institution has struggled to find its place in the modern restaurant scene. The Lexington closed its doors in May to undergo remodeling as ownership changed hands. The Pioneer Press is reporting that the sale has now fallen through.

Living history that might not be with us much longer

Landmark downtown Minneapolis restaurant Peter's Grill is likely to close its doors at the end of the month. The nearly hundred-year-old restaurant is part of the fabric of downtown Minneapolis office culture, feeding hungry workers diner-style goods. This wouldn't be the first time the restaurant has teetered on the edge of closing up shop for good, but is this the end of an era?

The second restaurant from Heidi and Stewart Woodman has officially closed its doors. Although the restaurant had cycled through a couple of chefs, its concept of fresh, healthy, creative food seemed a perfect fit for the neighborhood.

After a ten year run, the beloved Biella on Water Street in downtown Excelsior has closed their doors. The restaurant struggled to find a new home after a rent increase at their original location. Sadly, the move proved to be their undoing.
