In Tuesday's New York Times, Dave Kehr has a very good round-up review of the new DVDs of classic Westerns just released by Columbia Tristar. (You can find it here.) But I stopped short when I came to the following comment about Ida Lupino: "[ . . .] she had by this point in her career become the toughest of Hollywood's tough dames, the creator of a series of inedible portraits of down-but-not-out women [ . . . ]"
