Little rink houses

It's only the first week of October (also known to classical music fans as Johann Sebastian Bach-tober), but already local weathermen Ken Barlow and Paul Douglas have muttered the words no summer-lovin' Minnesotan likes to hear: winter and snow. Yes, those repeated on-the-hour news teasers can only mean that winter is so near that just one day remains to put on your wool thinking cap and come up with the most creative idea to be birthed on Medicine Lake on January 14, 2006, as part of the Soap Factory's annual Art Shanty Projects. Here's an e-mail from the organizers:

Seeking visual artists, musicians, composers, media artists, architects, poets, scientists, dancer/choreographers, writers, builders, fisher-people, outdoors-people, naturalists, puppeteers, set designers, vocalists, spoken word artists, craftspeople, storytellers, actors, playwrights, etc. interested in participating in the design and construction of ice fishing shanty-like structures, producing projects, art, events and shows within the environment of Medicine Lake, Plymouth, MN in January 2006.
