Witness to a demolition
I went to my first building demolition Saturday morning, in the rail yard just behind the new Gophers stadium. It looked and sounded like this:
A company called Veit laid the explosives and brought the building down (you might have seen their work before--Veit brought down the St. Paul Civic Center).
Here's the before and after:
Before...
...and after.
It was an impressive accomplishment on its own. It is all the more impressive after watching this farce of a demolition:
I'm hooked, like all the people at the demolition with me standing in the beds of their pickups with their cameras on tripods like it was a Space Shuttle launch.
And now I want to see something like this (Vegas, of course):
Oh, and the commentary in my demolition footage up top? Yeah, it was this guy.
