The Herbaliser announces Mpls tour date with full band
Most of the time when a celebrated artist adds a full band to its stage show, it will either turn out particularly slammin' or just fail miserably all together. But UK's The Herbaliser - one of few downtempo hip-hop acts still making waves today after what is said to be its 90s heyday - will likely rock it out. They've added three more permanent members to the group -- including young London-based vocalist Jessica Darling (who sounds years beyond 22).
“The key difference is having a single vocalist," says Jake. “Ollie and I still produce and oversee it, but Ralph and Andy and Jessica have been a lot more involved in this record. We've learned to integrate the musicians in the studio much more than we ever did in our first few albums.“
This tour -- stopping at the Varsity Theater on Nov. 19 -- is the first stateside trip for the new Herbaliser lineup. Expect it to be an intermingling of sounds remniscent of Handsome Boy Modeling School, DJ Premier, and Mr. Scruff.
