Missing in action from the Twin Cities for 10 years, the Beastie Boys seem to be making up for it with an extra appearance this weekend. Aside from their sold-out show at Roy Wilkins Saturday night, the Boys fronted a nonmusical, pro-Obama rally at Augsburg College's Oren Gateway Center (at Riverside and 21st Avenues in Minneapolis) earlier in the day.

According to Barack Obama's Web site, the rally was "an effort to mobilize an unprecedented turnout among first time and youth voters."

No word on how long the Beasties have been in Minneapolis, but a source said they stayed at the swanky Chambers Hotel on Hennepin last night. Check back with CityPages.com for more on the Beasties' long-overdue visit, including photos from the concert and a review of the show.
