Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles tonight at the Nomad World Pub

Tonight's show at the Nomad will conclude Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles' residency, and the bill is one of its most enigmatic yet. Beyond the Lapelles' most curious and infectious modernization of that teeny tiny guitar, this bill offers a great glimpse into some sorely underexposed local acts. Chris Bierden of Vampire Hands shows even more surprising range with his shadow act Invisible Boy, echoing everything from sock-hop slowdance material to proggy guitar melodies, all boiled into a beautifully sweet reduction. Magic Castles bring a reverberant psych pop that soothes the savage cynic, and Spiritual Mansions make a sticky syrup out of acoustic guitar and a few tasteful pedal effects.
The whole night gels and, like all truly noble things, it's free.
Thursday, November 20. 9:00 P.M. 21+. Free.
