Prince update: Purpleness says he was misquoted

Here's the controversial excerpt:
"And then on the opposite end of the spectrum you’ve got blue, you’ve got the Democrats, and they’re, like, ‘You can do whatever you want.’ Gay marriage, whatever. But neither of them is right.”When asked about his perspective on social issues—gay marriage, abortion—Prince tapped his Bible and said, “God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever, and he just cleared it all out. He was, like, ‘Enough.’ ”

Here's the problem, though: According to Prince sources sought by Perez Hilton, Prince was misquoted by Hoffman, who was said to not have used a tape recorder.
Not sure if this is true, but if we ever get invited to his Purpleness' home (it could happen), we would sure as hell bring a recording device. Who knows what oddities could spew.
Anyway, Prince supposedly said that he follows the Bible's teachings but believes people should love everyone and refrain from judgment.
The fan in us wants to believe this is true, but this is also coming from the Artist who painted an NBA player's house purple without his permission.
