Baby Guts and Totally Harsh at 7th Street Entry tonight

Totally Harsh? Gnarly.

Strident noise and primal scream? Not a bad way to kill off a chilly Wednesday night, though one hopes, for the sake of our cozy adult years, that there'll be a slash rate on earplugs for tonight's 7th Street Entry Show. Featuring a quartet of loud and, in one case, entirely unpredictable acts, this is a perfect way to rearrange Wednesday's face.

With Condominium leading off and Totally Harsh batting second, the evening's guaranteed to get off to a bracingly loud start. Totally Harsh, even in the annals of local hardcore, has the sort of unreachable high register scream that calls to mind a summer's worth of cicadas. Eye of The Great Protector is sure to cause much head scratching-- a highly improvisational, multi-instrumental, daringly occult musical project, they're certainly the only act in the Twin Cities where a clarinet and an Atari joystick divide time in the P.A.

Headliners Baby Guts scarcely need an introduction-- they've curried enough local awards to beautify any mantle, including Best Female Vocalist and a shiny place in 2007's Picked To Click. In 2008, they've been writing new material, touring, and keeping themselves fresh in memory as one of the loudest, angriest, and most likable participants in our scene.

Wednesday, December 10. 7th Street Entry. 8:00 P.M. $6.00. 18+.
