Save the date: First Avenue has announced that their annual Best New Bands showcase will take place on January 14, 2009 (18+ / $7 / 7 p.m.). According to the First Avenue Twitter page, the bands chosen to perform in the showcase will be announced tomorrow night in the Entry during the Yer Cronies "Crony Christmas" show.
For those unfamiliar, the bands chosen to perform in the Best New Bands showcase are chosen via a poll conducted by the venue, in which booker Sonia Grover asks a bushel of local media types to weigh in with their top seven new bands of the year.

Kristoff Krane
Lucy Michelle
Bouncer Fighter
The Wars of 1812
Fuck Knights
Caroline Smith
