Sexy low-cut dresses, flattering suit jackets, ties, heels and overall hotness walked through the doors and into a mass of women at the Dollhouse Friday night. A successful first attempt at a lesbian lounge night in Minneapolis, The View was the perfect setting complete with good lighting, drink specials and lots of room to dance, chat or cozy up in an intimate booth.
Dames, dolls and more dolls, the event was inspired by the 1940s pinup era, intending to be swanky, sassy and just plain different from any other option lesbians in this city have for socializing. Since Pi's closing last month, gay girls have been left with zero places to call their own. Thankfully The Dollhouse not only brought these women back together, but left behind the VFW style of the old hangout. No Carhartt in sight, only a few hooded sweatshirts and a couple athletic-intended wears could be spotted across The View. The ladies dressed to impress and oh my, did they ever.

Doo wop band Lil Miss Sweet Tooth and the Daisy Dukes warmed up the crowd early in the evening; vocalist Ashley Gold inspiring crushes with her near perfect Amy Winehouse and Duffy covers. Also during the night, 'Wham Bam Thank You Ma'ams' burlesque troop member "Redbone" teased and titillated loungers in the back room as she performed her ridiculously hot moves with fewer and fewer clothing items. Dressed as the classic 'sexy nurse', Redbone's stellar bod finished up her song wearing only white panties, Wizard of Oz-like ruby red slippers and red cross pasties to match. Mouths were frozen in their 'wow' stance for a few seconds after she left the stage.
The inspiration for the party herself, vintage Bettie Page movies played on all the TVs; naughty spanking and girl on girl wrestling were hard not to watch. Sister redhead DJs Tendercakes rounded out the rest of the evening, keeping the ladies moving as their tabs multiplied. Lots of old school rap, some new Britney Spears and even the disgustingly iconic 1999 hit "Thong Song" were played at light speed, remixed to hell with beats meant for only one thing: gyrating. Not sure the crowd was so into that particular move, but all things considered, The Dollhouse definitely pleased the pussies.
