David Letterman to host two bands with Twin Cities ties

Set your Tivo to record the Late Show with David Letterman tonight and tomorrow night to catch appearances by a handful of successful Twin Cities musicians. Tonight's musical performer, Ben Kweller, will be backed by Minneapolis bass player Chris Morrissey (Haley Bonar, Mason Jennings, Bill Mike Band, etc.), who has been touring with Kweller on and off for the past two years and has recently announced that he will be relocating to New York City to accommodate his increasingly busy schedule.
And tomorrow night, indie pop king Andrew Bird will be backed by three Twin Citizens: saxophonist Michael Lewis, looping aficionado Martin Dosh, and guitarist Jeremy Ylvisaker. Bird is known for collaborating with lots of musicians from the area -- he joined Dosh at his CD release party last year, and hired all three musicians to play on his new album, Noble Beast.
