Locally owned, independent record store the Electric Fetus is kicking off a new program to get shoppers to focus on spending money locally. The program, MinnEconomy, is geared toward promoting locally-made art and music by showcasing local products in the store and on the website, with new artists and musicians featured each month.

The Fetus will kick-off the program with in-store performances by "featured" local bands: Rocket Club, Solid Gold, and Lucy Michelle & the Velvet Lapelles will all perform as part of the kick-off on February 19. Exact times for each of the performances will be released at a later date.

Local designer Adam Turman, the featured crafts artist for the month of March, has also created a limited-edition poster on behalf of the MinnEconomy program.
