Locals One For the Team have officially earned their indie street cred with an in-depth feature and recording session on Daytrotter. For those unfamiliar, Daytrotter is an indie-centric, unique blog that invites bands to record their own "Daytrotter session" (which are typically stripped-down and/or unplugged versions of a handful of songs) and then posts an extensive review of the music and quotes from the songwriters. In other words, it's a platform for cool, rare cuts from today's best indie musicians -- if you've never visited Daytrotter, prepare to spend your next five workdays streaming all of their great content.
The Team find themselves in great company on the site: recent Daytrotter sessions include Heartless Bastards, Plain White T's, Ron Sexsmith, and many, many more. Their complete list of sessions dates back to 2006 and is quickly nearing the 500 mark.
Writer Sean Moeller had kind words for the band, and penned this flattering description as part of his review:
They are malted matters that show Anderson, synth player Grace Fiddler and drummer Elliot Manthey coalescing into a kite being flown on a May afternoon or a big bird gracefully bucking a headwind, but mostly just enjoying the rush of the trip. Anderson's unique vocal style, similar to Kevin Barnes on a cinnamon-y, British and Bon Iver kick, finds an impressive foil in Fiddler who is almost always singing along with or behind him in a cacophony of sugary breeze.Read the rest of the review and listen to One For the Team's exclusive Daytrotter tracks here.
