Like a rite of passage into the big leagues, Solid Gold have announced their first ever headlining show at First Avenue on Friday, May 15. It's a big vote of confidence from the club that they think the skyrocketing electro-pop band have build up enough buzz to fill the roughly 1800-person capacity room, and it's a good bet that the group will pull it off. Almost every single gig they have played in town over the last six months has sold out, and this will be their first public local gig since the South by Southwest kickoff party last month.
Check out the video for their first single off of last year's Bodies of Water, "Bible Thumper":
Solid Gold will play with DJ Real Jaguar on Friday, May 15 at First Avenue. 18+. $8/$10 at the door. 8 p.m.

I'd have to agree with the fact that Solid Gold is pretty much a terrible band.
Whoever wrote this last comment is mentally retarded.
You know what I love about these guys? I like the fact that these guys are the new poster boys for Urban Outfitters and American Apparel. Not to mention that they have this wonderful self centered attitude to boot! To top it all off, they are incredible at writing very bland music that will most likely have a life-span of a season. Way to go guys! You have succeeded in making music that helps good music stand out.
fwiw, actually they played the Turf w/ Yer Cronies & Switzerlind (it was sold out in advance as well) on April 3rd
